Welcome to Parkland Gives 365

We are a new(ish) affinity group and we invite you to join us. ParklandGives365 is a group of community supporters who want to do more – more for our students and district residents and more for anyone who needs a little extra help to get by. We’ll participate in service projects such as collecting emergency supplies for victims of tragedy; providing support to the local homeless community; volunteering throughout our district; and fulfilling supply shortages for social service agencies.  Serving our community in this way presents chances for us to connect with each other. In addition to serving critical needs in our community, we’ll also host social gatherings focused on having fun and networking.

PG365 currently has a few organizers established to perform essential operating functions. Organizers will be expected to actively participate in planning, discussions, and facilitation and execution of projects. Our vision is that the supporters – you – will step up as project managers for individual projects dear to them with the support of the core organizers. All PG365 meetings will be open to supporters and anyone with an interest. That’s where we’ll discuss current and upcoming projects and select new service opportunities. Our operating guidelines are slowly forming, and we expect to have something in writing after our first year.

Please subscribe to our mailing list to be participate in this new initiative.  Registering at the link provided will ensure you receive announcements about service opportunities, donation collections, get-togethers, and more.  We’re collecting a few pieces of information about PG365 supporters to guide future project selection and inform our marketing efforts.  You can also follow our progress, updates, and stories on our Facebook page.

Student Life Opportunity

Good morning, PG365ers!  We were contacted recently by Joshua Clark of Student Life at Parkland.  Over spring break, he took a group of students to Flint, Michigan for a service project.  The students were so moved by what they saw, learned, and did that they have asked us if we would consider helping their cause.  Anthony Baxter writes about the current climate in Flint in a Guardian article from April 4, 2018.   Or you can check out this youtube video .  It's a clip from a film made by a community college student that helps illustrate the living conditions in Flint.  Below I'm sharing what our very own Parkland students wrote about their experience.  They've given links to the organizations they worked with if you feel compelled to donate on their behalf.  ParklandGives365 is not collecting for this, we are only passing it along as an opportunity.  Therefore if you choose to donate to one of these organizations, your donation will be tax-deductible.  (Assuming that's
